USPS’s 2025 Baby Wild Animals Issue: 10 Stamp Designs And Behind-the-Scenes Details

The 2025 Baby Wild Animals issue contains ten different designs in a booklet of 20 stamps. “Ten animals” describes the design count, not a booklet containing only ten stamps.

USPS formally identifies the release as Baby Wild Animals. Issued May 23, 2025, it combines stylized animal illustrations with documented artist, art director, and production credits.

The ten designs and credits

The designs show a fox, owl, deer, seal, rabbit, raccoon, bear, skunk, bobcat, and chipmunk. The official booklet image and specification let readers match each name to a design; the booklet has two impressions of each of the ten designs.

Tracy Walker created the stylized illustrations, and Greg Breeding served as art director. USPS issued the Forever stamps on May 23, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado.

USPS sold the issue as Item 685500 in a pressure-sensitive, double-sided booklet of 20. The vertical stamps were printed by offset in four process colors on block-tagged paper. These production facts are documented “behind-the-scenes” information; they are separate from any interpretation of an animal’s pose or relationship.

Observation versus intent

Clean outlines, layered textures, and a palette of rust orange, cornflower blue, pale ecru, and soft black unify the ten images. Some designs contain more than one animal, but the scenes do not by themselves establish a parent-child relationship or a documented feeding behavior.

Plants, snow, water, and other background elements create a setting. They can be described as visible scenery without presenting them as a scientific habitat statement or a quotation from the artist.

Design-by-design checklist

Animal Primary identification cue Setting category shown
Fox Pointed ears, narrow muzzle, and rust-colored coat Flowers or leafy forms
Owl Round eyes and compact feathered head Branches or foliage
Deer Large ears, long legs, and spotted young coat Vegetation
Seal Rounded body, flippers, and whiskered face Water imagery
Rabbit Long ears and compact body Plant forms
Raccoon Dark facial mask and ringed tail Leafy natural elements
Bear Rounded ears, broad muzzle, and heavy paws Compact outdoor scene
Skunk Black coat with a strong white stripe Flowers or foliage
Bobcat Tufted ears, spotted coat, and short tail Vegetation
Chipmunk Small body and longitudinal stripes Foliage or ground plants

The descriptions stay with visible subjects and settings. They do not turn grouping, food, or posture into an undocumented claim about parentage, behavior, or the artist’s intention.

The visual cues are aids for locating a design within the official booklet, not biological diagnoses. If a small background form is unclear at page resolution, the table leaves it as a general setting rather than assigning a food item, family relationship, or precise habitat.

Together, the lineup, booklet quantity, credits, and production specifications distinguish the official release from individual images or unofficial reproductions.
